Silver String Band is generally considered and accidental (or serendipitous) ensemble...
In the summer of 2015, the old-time/folk band out of Albuquerque, NM named Peg Leg Joe had two members relocate. The remaining members (Jacob Chavez and Emily Anslover) knew they wanted to keep making music, so they prepared to search for new members. While setting up auditions, Emily came across Paul Hunton and Lars Fabricius-Olsen busking on Central Ave. in ABQ, at which point she decided to hop out of her car and jam with them on the street. She immediately contacted Chavez, stating, "I found them..."
From 2015-2016, under the new name of SILVER STRING BAND, the ensemble began genre blending and putting together their individual skills sets, some being contest style players, others being song writers and composers. They released their first self-titled studio album in the Fall of 2016, which led to a local and regional growth, as they made a name for themselves in their home town as well as embarked on a tour through Colorado and Utah. As original guitar player Javier Ortega relocated himself to South America and embarked on his own adventures, SSB linked up with local bluegrass flat-picking guru Kyle Malone. The band has been growing quickly ever since.
In January of 2018, SSB began working on their second independently produced full length studio album at Frogville studios with renowned engineer and producer Bill Palmer. Shortly after, SSB announced the release of their second record, "Keep Running." and set a release date for March 16th, 2018. The album is a combination of songs written by Hunton, Chavez, and Fabricius-Olsen.
"Keep Running" reflects on the toils of young adulthood, bucolic landscapes, and pays homage to a number of musical styles including bluegrass, grunge, punk, jazz, gospel, and country music.
Silver String Band's approach to Americana music is sure to have a little something for everyone. Music is available on CD and streaming partners such as Spotify, YouTube, AppleMusic, and many other digital venues.
